Throughout the first week of school, schools in Suffolk County have received three different school threats. The Suffolk County Police want to make it clear to all students and parents in the area that school threats are taken very seriously and there will be consequences. Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart and Police Chief of Department, Stuart Cameron hosted a press conference today, September 9th, in Brentwood at the Suffolk County Police Academy with the Center Moriches District Superintendent, Dr. Ronald Masera, at attendance. 

 

 

Dr. Ronald Masera attended the press conference due to his school being the recipient of one of these school threats. The threat to Center Moriches school was posted on social media by a student. However, Masera reassured the families of the students telling them that the school contacted Suffolk County Police to investigate the situation and found “that there was no credible threat” to the school. Although no real threat was found, the school took extra precaution by positioning police around the school last Friday.

With all the horrible instances that have happened in the past, it is important to take these matters seriously to ensure the safety of all students and faculty.
