As September begins, we are eagerly awaiting the changing colors of the leaves and the abundance of fall foliage to start taking over the Island. While some couples might want to frolic on the relaxing beaches for their honeymoon in the tropics, those having a fall wedding might want to relax somewhere where they can enjoy the fresh autumn air. Luckily, there are no shortage of places in the country where fall is the most lovely time of year and there are plenty of activities that you will give you a lifetime of memories. From the northeast to the west coast, the list of fall destination honeymoons is endless. Take a look at some of our favorite places for an autumn honeymoon!

Napa Valley - This California hot spot comes alive in the fall. As harvest season begins at the end of the summer, wineries and vineyards celebrate with fantastic tasting events and even the chance to stomp your own grapes! The area features much more than just great wine, you can also take hot air balloon rides over the vineyards, go fruit picking, and pamper yourself at any of the local hotels and spas!

Vermont: When thinking about Northern honeymoon destinations, Vermont is always on the top of the list. The mountains are bursting will gorgeous fall foliage especially during the beginning of the season. Treat yourself to fall favorites such as fresh cider, farm stands, and more! For the adventurous couple, hiking is a must this time of year! Don't forget to try a gondola ride on the scenic lakes when you're there!

Yellowstone: Fall is the perfect time of year to visit Yellowstone National Park! The tourists are gone and the park is at its most beautiful. The hiking trails that go through the mountains are fantastic for the outdoorsy and the waterfalls and geysers are spectacular. You'll even get to see some of the more permanent residents of the park: grizzlies, elk, and buffalo!

Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area: This beautiful destination just 13 miles east of Portland, Oregon is one of the nation's best secret honeymoon destinations. The gorge walls are covered in breathtaking fall foliage and cascading waterfalls that are sure to provide a romantic setting. From there you can even go to Willamette Valley wine county and Mt. Rainier. This destination is best to go to in mid-late October.
