Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and the beginning of the High Holy Days.  This year it starts at sundown on Sunday, September 16th.  The holiday has delicious culinary traditions!  It’s a time to reflect on the past year, reunite with family and friends to celebrate the happy year to come.   The traditional symbolic foods are a big round Challah bread to represent the continuing cycle of life and apples dipped in honey to start off the new year on a sweet note.  The rest of the meal can be quite challenging and time consuming to cook.  Fortunately, we have some great places that can do the cooking for you.

True story...my friend went to her boyfriend's house for the first night of Rosh Hashanah.  His mother was not a good cook - she catered in the entire meal!  When my friend asked her for a recipe, she was told that it was a family secret.  Years later after they were married, the woman finally fessed up that she didn't cook anything.
