Summer's over...what to do?????

Written by lisingles  |  30. August 2000

Well for those of you who didn't have the chance to take part in this year's summer of "Thong, Thong, Thong, Thong's" (Thanks Sisqo for the best summer anthem since Bryan Adams "Summer of '69") Allow me to say - I did, and I had a blast doing so! For starters I found out that I CAN actually bowl, and Even better after a couple of drinks! But 'Down-Port' was good to me, and I loved it. Tara's Kitchen and Bar were open til 3am, Cafe-Bada-Bing had Thirsty Thursday's ($10 all you can drink 9pm-2am) and The Village pub with live music (caught both local band Drift, and almost famous Wheatus). But my new favorite place is John Micheal's in Oakdale by Dowling College. For Starter's Tuesday night - free pool all night. Thursday's is $2 Mug nite. What does that mean??? Bring down a mug - any size (and yes, it has to be a mug no pitchers) and they fill it for $2!! Talk about value. And saturday Nights is live music. Over the past few weeks I have becom accustomed with almost all the staff there - Dawn, who works on tuesday's, Farah - who usually works days and come's back at night, and finally bartender/owner George. The place is so homey, and the jukebox is the best I've seen on Long Island ever! And it is soo good that $5 gets you 15 plays! So come on down and hang-out one night. DOwling resumes classes in about a week and It is definetly a good place to meet people. Plus if you eye someone and don't know about em - Chances are George does. Trust me, you'll be glad you did. Just because summer season has ended doesn't mean the feeling of summer has too. And thank you to the several people who wrote me back about my last article. You were all very kind and I appreciate it. You know who you are. Until next time....
