North Shore Animal League's Four Legged Friends: Meet Duke, Hook, Lily & Mary!

Written by North Shore Animal League America  |  25. August 2015

Four Legged Friends is a weekly column by Bariann Browne, lifelong Long Island resident and communications coordinator for North Shore Animal League America. Bariann’s weekly posts highlight the League’s amazing animals, just a small example of the thousands of loving, loyal pets waiting for forever homes at your local animal shelter.

2 year old Lab/Terrier mix Duke is at the top of his obedience class. Playful and friendly, Duke is hoping to start his very own toy collection with all the chew toys he enjoys playing with. Give Duke plenty of belly rubs and attention, and you'll have a best friend forever! Duke will do best in a home with children over 12 and no other pets. Duke’s adoption number is E01229.

Hook is a 7 month old Lab mix with some energy to burn! He will do best in a home with children over 10 and would like to meet and canine companions at our adoption center first. Due to his energy levels, prior dog experience would be best to provide Hook with a happy, balanced life. Don't let this guy's excitement fool you! He truly is a sweet boy who just wants someone to love! Hook's adoption number is PM3907.

Lily is a young female Pit Bull mix who can best be described as loyal, curious, adventurous, enthusiastic and playful. She is good with kids 12 and older due to her strength, but walks quite well on leash and knows her basic commands. With a little bit of simple training Lily will make a wondeful addition to any active family! Lily's adoption number is H206598.

Everyone loves Mary! She was found walking around Manhattan and was picked up by a local municipal shelter before she came to our adoption center. This 5 year old beauty is the size of a kitten and extremely sweet. She enjoys the company of other cats and children of all ages so she will do great in any home! Mary's adoption number is MA2669.

Duke, Hook, Lily & Mary are all waiting for their forever homes at our adoption center in Port Washington. To adopt one of these amazing animals, or for more information, please email us or call us at 516-883-7575. See more adoptable cats and dogs at www.animalleague.org!
