SMITHTOWN, NY - August 2012 – LaVida Massage a new health and wellness concept in therapeutic massage for the entire family, proudly announces that its Smithtown, Long Island location is re-launching under the dedicated stewardship of local residents Jessica and Jim Nuzzo. Together, the Nuzzos are investing not only in the center--revamping its interior, image, staff, and services-- but in the health and wellness of Smithtown and its surrounding communities.
Prominent residents, the Nuzzos have joined LaVida Massage as the new owners and managers of the Smithtown center and are quickly turning the location around with their business and marketing expertise. Jessica has a 20 year background in the marketing and business development field and Jim, a long-time Smithtown resident, works as an executive in finance and administration for a leading Long Island based company.
The Business Behind the Backrub
“We didn’t want to see another business close its doors in this town. Additionally, we see tremendous potential in this business opportunity. With over 70 percent of the general population having never had a massage, we see LaVida and its gender-neutral, family friendly atmosphere as a win for us and for the community,” says owner Jessica Nuzzo.
Currently, LaVida Massage of Smithtown’s staff is comprised of 13 area residents and is looking to hire approximately 10 more by the end of the year.
Located in the Hillside Village, otherwise known as “Uncle Giuseppe’s” shopping center (87 Rte. 111, Smithtown, NY, 11787), LaVida Massage of Smithtown will be focusing a portion of its business to therapeutic sports massage. “We know this town and we see a real need for a facility that caters to the athletic lifestyle. We are not a spa – there are no robes and slippers here – we offer therapeutic massage that is beneficial in so many ways. We are partnering with Gold’s Gym to offer their members special rates and hope to soon partner with other gyms and fitness centers in the area as well. We want to educate our community and provide the many health benefits of massage to our active and health-conscious neighbors.”
LaVida Massage services will also include relaxation, deep tissue, couples massage, hot stone, Swedish, pre-natal and even oncological therapies, all performed by licensed, expertly trained massage therapists. By mid-September, the center plans to introduce skin care services, as well. The Smithtown location is open from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday. Appointments can be made by calling 631-979-9000, or booking online at www.smithtown.ny.
To honor the revamp and re-launch, LaVida Massage of Smithtown is planning a grand re-opening block party-styled community event in the Hillside Village Shopping Center on Saturday, September 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The staff will be providing free 10-minute chair massages, and special pricing and packages will be offered that day. Giveaways and prizes of free massages, Smithtown Performing Arts Center theatre tickets, local gift cards, and more will raffled off hourly, and local merchants like Uncle Giuseppe’s and The Lite Choice will be providing food and snacks. Additionally, a host from the 97.5 WALK FM radio station will be there from 10 a.m. to noon with music and special prizes.
