In addition, the 107 participating golfers donated 500 pounds of food to be distributed to local soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency feeding programs. "Island Harvest and the 283,000 Long Islanders who face hunger each day on Long Island are grateful for the generosity of all who participated in the event at Island Hills Golf Club," said Randi Shubin Dresner, present and CEO of Island Harvest. "Through grassroots participation in communities across Long Island, we can make a big difference in the lives of those struggling with hunger." "When I accepted the role of Women's Group president at Island Hills one of my goals was to have our entire membership participate in a charity event to benefit people close to home," said Debra Epilone. We are looking forward to next year and have decided to once again choose Island Harvest as our charity fundraiser."
