EXPERIENCE ASIA IN ONE NIGHT

Written by travel  |  17. August 2004

Local residents will have the opportunity to experience the food and culture of Malaysia in a single night on Saturday August 21, when Malaysian singer and entertainer Kathy Ibrahim puts on a benefit dinner show at the The Theatre Club on Roosevelt Island, starting at 7:30 p.m. Ms. Ibrahim, one of Asia's most popular performers, will take guests on a tour of the cultural diversity of Malaysia, whose heritage includes Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences. A mesmerizing song stylist who is a legend in Asia, Ms. Ibrahim will be joined by the colorful Malaysia Tourism Dance Troupe. Their breathtaking costumes alone are worth the price of admission, but by the end of this blockbuster cultural performance, attendees will have been rewarded with an understanding of why Malaysia is called "Truly Asia," a place where visitors experience all of Asia in just one country. Add to this a sumptuous banquet of mouth-watering Malaysian cuisine, which is flavored by Malaysia's unique blend of cultures, and it will surely be an experience to remember. A bonus attraction is a drawing for a lucky winner of two round-trip airline tickets to Malaysia, plus a three-nights' hotel stay and a day tour of the exciting capital Kuala Lumpur, courtesy of Tourism Malaysia and Malaysian Airlines. Tickets for "Experiencing Malaysia, Truly Asia" are $100 per person, including the show, banquet and drawing. All proceeds from the charity performance will go Malaysians in need of medical care. For further information, contact Ms. Nurul Rahim at one of the following numbers: (800) 558-6787, (212) 754-1113, or (917) 837-5601. Enjoy!
