LI's Adorable Adoptables: Meet Noori, Jasper, Hank, Yeller, Bessie, and Risley!

Written by Allison Matos  |  13. August 2015

LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

If you’re searching for one of the cutest cats ever, look no further- meet Noori!  This sweet gal is a stunning 9-year-old dilute calico. Poor Noori was surrendered to the shelter in May because her owners were moving out of state and couldn’t take her with them. This poor baby is just so depressed and scared in the shelter that she spends most of her days just lounging around in her bed.  Noori’s previous owner states Noori was “very fearful of other cats and is cautious of dogs”.  The staff at The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter describe Noori as loving and playful with adults (very scared of children) so an adult only home would be best.  Noori deserves a forever home as sweet as she is, so contact the Town of Hempstead Animal shelter for more information today!

It’s one cute cat after the next! Right next door at Last Hope Animal Rescue, you can meet Jasper! Jasper was rescued after being born outdoors in April 2015.  Jasper was then home fostered by a Last Hope volunteer and is now completely ready for his furever home!   This little guy is described as a playful little boy full of love and purrs! For more information, check out Jaspers webpage here.

OMG…Hank! You are the butterball of my dreams.  Handsome Hank is a whole lot of Pembroke Welsh Corgi!  This 58 pound Sir is the same variety of Corgi owned by Queen Elizabeth. He's not looking for his own Buckingham Palace, but instead a loving place to live.  Hank found himself in a KY shelter as a stray after being hit by a car. Luckily, Hank has all the proper veterinary care and is need of a good forever home that could help him get into shape.  If you are in the market for a doggy diet partner (and who isn’t), a dear BFF, a cute Corgi, or an awesome family pet- then pease visit "Hank the Hunk" at Last Hope in Wantagh today!

The gorgeous 3 year old male yellow lab pictured is Yeller.  Yeller is absolutely beautiful with the most soulful eyes.  He was dumped at the shelter by his owners, and has spent the entire time at the shelter looking through the fence waiting for them to take him home.  This poor boy is so sad, all he wants is a home of his own.  He gets along well with other dogs and seems to ignore the cats that are in the pens with him.  Yeller would love nothing more than a home of his own, for more information, contact Sweetest Dog Rescue (information below).

Adorable black and white Bessie is a 2 year old female corgi/border collie mix.  Not only is she a love but she’s also very smart!  She's good with other dogs but is intimidated by large dogs and not a fan of cats. What she does love is snuggling in bed and being the best furry friend a dog could be.  She's even small enough to be the perfect travel companion!  Contact Sweetest Dog Rescue to meet her (see below), you never know... she just may be your next best friend!

Risley is incredible!  She's a 2 year old shepherd/hound mix and is described as the most affectionate dog residing at Sweetest Dog Rescue right now.  She wants your love and attention in exchange for all her love, affection and attention (can’t ask for more than that).  Risley was adopted by Sweetest Rescue and she stayed in their quarantine facility for 3 months to go through her heartworm treatment, but she is fine now and looking for her very own furever home. If you are interested in Yeller, Bessie or Risley, check out Sweetest Dog Rescue’s website, download an adoption application and fax it to them at (631) 706-7144 or scan it back to sweetestdogrescue@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt- never shop!
