The 2011 Long Island Cruizin' for a Cure Car Show, presented by lead sponsor Allstate Insurance and run by a dedicated group of volunteers, will be held on Sunday, September 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Sears Automotive Center on Routes 106/107 in Hicksville (LIE Exit 41 South/Northern State Exit 35 South). The event will include a 9/11 memorial. This is the only car show to raise funds for prostate cancer testing and education on Long Island. Pre-registration applications to show cars accepted until September 9th.

North Shore University Hospital will provide free onsite PSA blood-screening tests. Attendees can also see hands on demos of the DaVinci Surgical Robot. In addition, prostate cancer survivors will be present all day to answer questions to the best of their ability.

Last year, over 700 men received free PSA blood-screening tests onsite. Sixteen were found with elevated PSA levels and they were referred to their medical doctors immediately.

"I'm a prostate cancer survivor and I built Long Island Cruizin' around the screening program offered at the show. Early detection can save a life, as it saved mine. In 2010 over 218,000 men were diagnosed through early screening PSA testing. Nine out of ten cases of prostate cancer are discovered while it is still in the early stages, which gives men a much better chance of survival," said Sandy Kane, event chair.

The September car show will again offer a fun-filled family outing and is open to all rods, customs, muscle and classic, specialty vehicles, motorcycles and antique fire apparatus. There will be an all blacktop field, vendor pavilion, entertainment (our own Fonzie & ChaChi) for kids and adults, food court, and a 50/50 raffle with our 50's chicks. The entry fee to exhibit a car is $20 if pre-registered by September 9th; $25 on the day of the event.
