Dowling College Promotes Mike Blangiforti & Announces New Director of Campus Safety

Oakdale, N.Y.,~Dowling College announced today the promotion of Mike Blangiforti to Associate Vice President of Safety, Facilities and Compliance and appointed Tony Repalone to Director of Campus Safety. Since December 2007, Blangiforti has served as the Director of Campus Safety and Compliance for Dowling College. In this newly created position, Blangiforti's responsibilities will include overseeing all operations in Campus Safety, Facilities and Compliance departments for both the Oakdale-Rudolph and Brookhaven campuses. "Mike has taken a leadership role at Dowling incorporating the advantages of recent technologies with a personal commitment to ensure members of our campus communities are safe 24/7. Under his charge, we're confident that Dowling's plant and maintenance operations will also reflect his dedication to excellence," said Ralph Cerullo Sr., Dowling College chief financial officer and treasurer. "I look forward to my new expanded role at Dowling College and the opportunity to not only work with members of the campus community, but also to continue to enhance the overall infrastructure of the institution," said Blangiforti. Under his directorship, Blangiforti assisted in developing Dowling College's Campus Safety and Intervention Team, which he was appointed as chairman, introduced the RAVE Mobile Safety emergency alert system, and negotiated the college's relationship with FJC Security Services Inc. which will establish a state-of-the art command center. A decorated 20-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, Blangiforti retired from the NYPD as the Operations Coordinator for Queens Detectives. He holds a bachelor's degree from St. John's University and holds certificates in National Incident Management, Terrorism Response and Awareness and numerous investigative areas of expertise. In the joint announcement, Dowling College appointed Tony Repalone to Director of Campus Safety. A former Detective Sergeant with the Nassau County Police Department, Repalone was assigned to the Second Squad of the department's Detective Division. A distinguished 31-year veteran in law enforcement, he also served six years with the New York City Police In this position, Repalone will be responsible for the supervision of the campus safety staff and coordinating the technological advancements in Campus Safety as they are implemented.
