Written by Debbi Spiegel  |  04. August 2012

Does your mouth water by just thinking of eating fresh, local lobster?   Lobster is one of if not the most tasty and famous of seafoods, and many are caught locally right in the Long Island Sound. It can be steamed, boiled, grilled or broiled but no matter how it is prepared, it is always delicious!  Lobster is a heart healthy protein that is low in fat, calories and cholesterol, and it is a  succulent delicacy that transforms any dinner into a special occasion.  Wearing the plastic bibs is just part of the dining experience, and will also keep your clothes clean should you choose to indulge in a whole lobster.

Eating outdoors under the stars or seaside in the summer months enhance the dining experience, and many of the best places to enjoy lobster locally are located on the water. Lobster dinners can span from casual to more formal, pair it with a great bottle of local wine or beer for a night to remember, and create a spectacular date night.  Some restaurants also have entertainment including live bands, kareoke, or other entertainment.

These
bright red kings of the sea have made cameo appearances in both film and television - who can forget the scene in the movie "Splash" when Daryl Hannah picked up the lobster and bit right into it?  On Seinfeld, Kramer thought that he hit the jackpot when he found lobster traps.
