Long Island Rough Riders Soccer Move August 5th Game to Tully Field

Match vs. Western Mass will be "Fan Appreciation Day" The Long Island Rough Riders, a member of the United Soccer League's (USL) 2nd Division, will play their final regular season home game against the Western Mass. Pioneers at "Michael Tully Field" in New Hyde Park, NY. The start time for the August 5 game is 5:00 p.m. With the support of the Town of North Hempstead and HIP Health Plan of New York, the Rough Riders will be hosting a soccer clinic for Long Island youth players on site prior to the game from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. Teams and individuals interested in participating should call the Rough Riders at (516) 622-3900 or E-mail the team. The Rough Riders will also be honoring Pasquale DeLuca with the annual "Tony Cangero Memorial" Award for his outstanding efforts and contributions to the Long Island soccer community. The Long Island Rough Riders faced the Western Mass. Pioneers three times earlier this season, with the teams having a tie score twice. On June 17, they played to a 0-0 tie at Stony Brook University and that weekend the two sides tied 2-2 at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, MA. The Pioneers hosted the third game on July 8, beating the Rough Riders 2-1. The Long Island Rough Riders will finish out their 2006 USL 2nd Division regular season on the road. The team will head south for back-to-back games at the Charlotte Eagles (August 11) and Wilmington Hammerheads (August 12).
