Ten Great Local Hot Spots Serving Up Mouthwatering Margaritas

Written by Debbi Spiegel  |  23. July 2013

The margarita is a Mexican cocktail, typically a mix of tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and a sweetener. This base mix has been adapted to include almost any fruit and liqueur imaginable and are often served with salt on the glass rim.  The margarita includes ingredients that should stimulate the four primary tastes: sweet, sour, salty and bitter. Lime and tequila are the two ingredients for this marriage made in cocktail heaven.  It is the most common tequila-based cocktail in the United States. The drink is served shaken with ice (on the rocks), blended with ice (frozen margarita), or without ice (straight up).  Margaritas can be made in so many ways, take on many personalities, and they are the must have summer cocktail. The possibilities are endless!

Follow Jimmy Buffet's advice and escape to "Margaritaville."  There are mixologists across our Island making these libations.  From the classic, to strawberry, watermelon or any flavor you desire. A layered margarita is awesome because you get to enjoy different flavors in one, plus it just looks really pretty.

However be sure to drink responsibly, and remember don't drink and drive!
