Animal Disaster Response Training in East Meadow, NY July 28-29, 2012

East Meadow, NY – July 10, 2012 – The Pet Safe Coalition, the only organization in Nassau County, NY that specifically deals with emergency management and disaster mitigation for animals will host a two-day interactive training for volunteers who wish to become disaster responders.

Where: Eisenhower Park 1899 Hempstead Turnpike East Meadow, NY 11554 (use Service Entrance)

When: July 28-29, 2012  Start Time Saturday 8am—End Sunday 3pm

This two-day interactive training includes topics on:

  • What Volunteers need to know before they respond
  • Animal Disaster Sheltering to include Intake, Reclaim, and Fostering
  • General Animal Handling Techniques
  • Wildfires, Structure Fires and Emergency Shelter Evacuations
  • Critical Incident Stress—What it is and how to deal with it
  • The Incident Command System—Course Requirements to Respond
  • Plenty of Interactive Hands on Activities
  • Meet and Greet of Pet Safe Coalition Members

Cost: New Volunteers = $100

CERT/SART/CART Members, Students, Seniors (60+) = $80

Training fee includes annual membership
