Bed Bug Infestation at Town of Hempstead Office

Written by erin__l  |  15. July 2019

On Wednesday, workers first spotted the bed bugs at 200 North Franklin Street. Since then, dozens more were found around the office. Near the dumpster outside the office, desk chairs were found with bed bugs clearly visible, crawling all around the chairs. Many are disappointed in the way the incident was handled because no one was specifically notified about the infestation.

According to Don Clavin, a tax receiver running for town supervisor, the office was closed and had cautionary tape and signs warning people not to enter without any explanation. In response, a statement was released from the town saying “This administration does not believe in scaring the public and will continue following all appropriate protocols and procedures relating to bed bugs.”
