MASSAPEQUA, NY; JULY 12, 2012 – While all eyes remain on this year’s big presidential election, another important race is now underway. Long Island’s Association of Generational Experts for Seniors (AGES) is actively accepting nominations for Long Islanders’ favorite “Savvy Senior” citizens until Friday, August 31, 2012. Every senior submitted will be considered a viable candidate for 2012’s first-ever Savvy Senior King and Queen, who will be announced and crowned during AGES’ Third Annual Savvy Senior Day.  All seniors nominated will be publicly recognized during the event, which will be fittingly held on Grandparents Day, Sunday, September 9, 2012 at The American Legion Post 1066, located at 66 Veterans Boulevard in Massapequa, NY.

“Our Long Island seniors are exceptional individuals who have made tremendous contributions to our lives and community,” says Rita Medaglio-Barrera, AGES Co-Chair. “Our Savvy Senior Day is designed to show our seniors the great respect, admiration and appreciation that we all have for them within a celebratory forum where they can deservingly shine among family and friends. We encourage everyone to support their special senior and hope they will exercise their right to cast their vote.”

In 200 typed words or less, individuals can submit their favorite senior, along with a photo or video, to: AGES Savvy Senior Award, P.O. Box 85, Lake Grove, NY 11755. Nominations are also accepted via email at savvy2012@agesresourcenetwork.com or directly through AGES’ Web site, www.agesresourcenetwork.com, which also provides further information about Savvy Senior Day. Anyone with questions can call 631-981-9100.

In addition to accepting Savvy Senior nominations, AGES is welcoming individual and corporate sponsorships for some of Savvy Senior Day’s food, entertainment, gifts and raffle prizes.
