CHERNOFF DIAMOND HOSTS FREE SEMINAR FOR MUNICIPALITIES

Written by Mindy F. wolfle  |  11. July 2011

ABOUT THE SEMINAR The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), signed into law by President Obama in March 2010, is a sweeping piece of legislation that will fundamentally alter the healthcare landscape in this country. There are thousands of pages of legislation and regulations, new government agencies and new rules to follow. Initial market reforms such as extending coverage to young adults and covering preventive services with no member cost sharing has begun. The review of claim denials and W-2 reporting requirements have been delayed, and the courts have begun to weigh in on the constitutionality of a key component of the law - the individual mandate, scheduled to become effective in 2014. So what lies ahead? The seminar will: Briefly review the initial market reforms. Discuss new communication and administrative requirements. Provide an overview of changes that impact retirees and Medicare beneficiaries. Highlight key events scheduled for 2014 and 2018 that will impact your benefits. Share some thoughts on voluntary benefits. Discuss the financial impact and ramifications with regard to post-retirement benefits in accordance with GASB 45.
