Long Island Rough Riders play two games this week at Stony Brook University on Wednesday, July 12 and Saturday, July 15, 2006 bringing Pro Soccer back to Suffolk County New York.

The Long Island Rough Riders, members of pro soccer's United Soccer Leagues (USL) 2nd Division, will be hosting two games this week at Stony Brook University's "Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium". As was announced last week, the Rough Riders will host the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Wednesday-July 12th, with kick off set for 7:30pm. In addition, the team has brought another game to the Stony Brook campus. The New Hampshire Phantoms will be coming down to play the Rough Riders this Saturday-July 15th, with a special start time of 7:00pm.

The match tomorrow against Pittsburgh is actually a make-up date for what was originally to be the Rough Riders home opener at Mitchel Athletic Complex (Uniondale) back on April 22. The game was postponed due to extensive storms that blanketed the east coast that weekend, also causing the cancellation of Richmond's game that evening against Cincinnati. Final scheduling details of the Rough Riders make-up date with Pittsburgh had been pending the Riverhounds participation in the 2006 US Open Cup. The Riverhounds were knocked out of the national competition on June 14 when they lost to the PDL Michigan Bucks 2-0. The Rough Riders have not yet played the Riverhounds this season. Pittsburgh is currently in third place in the USL 2nd Division with a record of 5 wins-2 loses-5 ties for 20 points.

Saturday will bring the Rough Riders second home game of the week at Stony Brook University, when they take on the New Hampshire Phantoms at 7:00pm. New Hampshire start the week in 4th place in the division with a record of 6 wins-5 loses-1 tie for 19 points. The Rough Riders have yet to take a point from the Phantoms in three games this season.

After this week, Long Island will go on a two-game road trip to play the Cincinnati Kings (July 21st) and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (July 22nd). The Rough Riders will return to Long Island on Wednesday-July 26th when they will host Cincinnati at Mitchel Athletic Complex for the team's annual "Camp Day" game. Kick-off that day will be at 12noon. For additional team and ticket information, please contact the Rough Riders office at 516-622-3900 or check out the team website at
