TEAM TFCU SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE FOR CHILDREN

Written by William Corbett  |  07. July 2011

Farmingville, N.Y., July 7, 2011 - Team TFCU, Teachers Federal Credit Union staff members' community involvement group, will collect donations of school supplies at the 22 TFCU branches throughout the months of July and August. Teachers Federal Credit Union, Long Island's largest credit union, with more than 212,000 members and $4 billion in assets, is committed to supporting families and children in the community. Similarly dedicated to public service, Long Island Cares, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that sponsors and supports community programs to help families achieve self-sufficiency and also provides emergency food assistance where and when it is needed. In keeping with Team TFCU's motto "Together we Educate, Take Action, and Motivate," credit union members are supporting the efforts of Long Island Cares, Inc., in assisting needy children who lack the necessary supplies to be prepared for the school year. The new school supplies collected will be donated to Long Island Cares, Inc., for distribution to local children. Suggested donations include backpacks, notebooks, folders, crayons, tape, rulers, dictionaries, pocket calculators and other supplies that students typically need when school starts in September. TFCU branches will have collection boxes and staff ready to assist members and friends who wish to provide donations. "The Team TFCU School Supply Donation Drive is an annual program that benefits boys and girls attending local schools. Knowing that school supplies can be expensive for families, our volunteers want to help children start the school year with the tools they need for success. Our members, employees and others in the community have always donated a variety of items that children will use in the classroom or when completing projects or doing their homework," said Robert G. Allen, President/CEO of TFCU.
