Long Island’s Best Guacamole

Written by Catherine Eve  |  04. July 2019

If you love guacamole, you know there’s nothing better than having it made fresh – preferably right at the restaurant table.  Avocado, cilantro and all the other yummy ingredients smashed together in a mortar makes for a deliciously blissful companion to tortilla chips, quesadillas and other appetizers and dishes. So who’s got Long Island’s best guacamole?  It’s a tough competition for sure, but here are five restaurants that we think have earned gold-star guac status.

Mesita, Rockville Centre

Fresh guacamole served table side is just one of the many mouthwatering authentic Mexican dishes you’ll find at this downtown Rockville Centre restaurant. Stop by for brunch, lunch, dinner or Latin Night salsa dancing every Thursday.

Margarita’s Café (several locations)

Guacamole is a staple at the Margarita’s Café restaurants which are located throughout Long Island.  Snack on chips and guac while having a margarita and listening to the mariachi band that plays Friday through Sunday.

South of the Border, Levittown

South of the Border’s fresh guacamole made with avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro and serrano peppers won’t disappoint. The restaurant’s intimate atmosphere is perfect for date night.

The Refuge, Melville

Whether you’re here for happy hour or a lively dinner with friends, you’ll want to make guac part of your evening. Served with the restaurant’s renowned corn tortilla chips, it’s an appetizer you’ll still be talking about the next day.

Besito, (Several locations)

With locations in West Islip, Huntington and Roslyn, Besito gives residents in both Nassau and Suffolk easy access to its popular table side guacamole and menu of inspired Mexican dishes.
