Written by Long Island  |  26. June 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ART (that matters) PRESENTS "Speak Your Truth" "The Art of Beth Costello" ART (that matters) is pleased to announce a new show celebrating the work of artist Beth Costello at ART (that matters) in Oyster Bay opening Thursday July 7 from 7-9 PM, during the Oyster Bay Art Walk. An artist's reception will be held on Friday July 15, 2011 from 6-9 PM. Beth Costello will be exhibiting her works and is also asking for public participation by filling out a postcard and sharing with the world "What is Your Truth" which can be filled out at the door. This is the artists' first solo show. Beth holds an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and a Masters of Art from Long Island University. Beth currently teaches classes in Graphic Design for Lincoln Educational Services and is an advocate for giving children a voice using art as self expression. Beth's work is simultaneously deeply personal and universally understood. Bold colors and figures either intensify the artists message or offset the emotional impact contrasting for example the lovely happy Tiffany turquoise blue against a figure bound to a somewhat abstract cross. Mindful, full of intention, intense, often a bit sad or perhaps resigned is a more accurate description. Yet it is full of promise, vitality and hope. This impressive body of work is the passion, pain, calling and life of this promising artist.
