Applebee's ® Rekindles Friendships with "Girls' Night Out" Every Wednesday

LONG ISLAND, NY - June 21, 2011 - In a national campaign, Applebee's is making it easier for girlfriends to get together every week or once a month. With crazy calendars and obligation overload, women are finding it nearly impossible to get away for an evening out with girlfriends. Applebee's Facebook fan page can help. Organizers can send out customized "Girls' Night Out" invitations to their friends-by sending a personalized message with a specific date, time and Applebee's neighborhood gathering place, women are more likely to make room for some fun in their busy schedules-and responses to invitations are a simple click away. "We knew women needed time away from work and family responsibilities to just unwind," says Applebee's Director of Operations for Long Island, Marc Prince. "Applebee's informal Facebook survey proved us right. It showed that only 9 percent of women get together weekly with friends and a whopping 34 percent never get a night out with girlfriends. We think women deserve to take a break." Some good food, good conversation, a little venting, and a whole lot of laughing, before or after a movie, are the goals of Applebee's new Wednesday evening neighborhood "Girls' Night Out." Applebee's Nassau and Suffolk county restaurants will be offering monthly drink specials along with some creative ideas each month that will ensure an enjoyable "GNO." Calorie counters need not worry. With six Unbelievably Great Tasting and Under 550 CaloriesTM entrees and Skinny Bee cocktails, lower calorie versions of the Margarita, Mojito and Long Island Iced Tea on its menu, Applebee's has made Girls' Night Out "affordable" for those on tight calorie budgets as well as for those with tight purse strings.
