Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in West Islip
Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a man in West Islip last night.
Patrick Tarpey was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Union Boulevard when the vehicle left the roadway at the Robert Moses Causeway overpass and struck a cement pillar at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Tarpey, 59, of Amityville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
