Without transportation it’s going to very difficult for graduates to move up in life. Having a means of getting to and from school or work is very important and can make all the difference in achieving success. Not only will your grad need a car, they’re going to need some things to aid in auto maintenance. Shops like Pep Boys and AutoZone carry an extensive range of auto parts, supplies, and accessories, from wheels to air fresheners; you’ll find everything you need.

 

2. Technology

We live in a world run by technology. Our entire life exists in a digital universe. From Facebook to cell phones to personal organizers, it all relies on electronics. This isn’t a trend that shows signs of slowing down any time soon. Consider the following electronics as gifts for a graduate.

 

- Apple products such as an iPod or iPad are great for the grad on the go. Mac laptops and computers like the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac also make for easy note taking during class, writing essays or other creative projects.

 

- If Macs are out of your price range there are other brands to consider. Stop by electronic stores such as Best Buy, PC Richards & Son or Staples to find the perfect laptop or computer at the right price.

 

- Keep in touch with your grad and keep them connected to the rest of the world with a new cell phone or smart phone. Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T have multiple locations on the Island. 

 

- If you know a graduate who is a bookworm then an E-reader might be the very best gift for them. E-readers help to keep shelves both organized and clear as there won’t be so many books cluttering up the space. E-readers are also great for on the go. It fits nicely into purses and book bags and can be used while traveling from class to class or during a commute to a new job. Amazon offers the Kindle while Barnes and Noble offers the Nook.

 

3. Money

Money is never a bad gift. It allows the receiver to choose exactly what they want and, hopefully, what they need. And what’s even better than money? More money! Start a savings account for your grad and allow money to accrue over time through interest. It may not be a gift that gives instant gratification but it’s certainly worth it. There are many banks located on Long Island, find the one that best fits you. 4. Organization

Maybe your grad is a little absentminded. It happens to the best of us. Help them keep track of their responsibilities with a personal organizer from Barnes & Noble, Staples, Office Max or any other book store, stationary store or office supply store.

 

Graduates will also find other organizational tools to be helpful such as desk supplies, closet organizers, under-bed storage, and other home goods.  Stores like Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Walmart are stocked with such home goods at very reasonable prices.
