Hot Spots: Summer Concerts, Comedy and Festivals in the Latest Weekend Watch

Summer concerts rule and you can bet Long Island has a packed schedule of them! For the end of this week, enjoy the Rascal Flatts and Pitbull at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. The weekend also includes entertainment like the Deer Park Community Center’s 3rd Annual Comedy Cabaret, performances by Barn Stars and Blue Rose at Northport Village Park and the Atlantic Wind Symphony at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. There are also theater performances and festivals like Les Miserable, the annual Smithtown Annual Festival Day and the Sheep Shearing Festival at Sherwood Jayne Farm. Check out the details below!

FRIDAY – MAY 31, 2013

Who: Rascal Flatts With The Band Perry At Nikon At Jones Beach Theater
Info: The Grammy-winning band Rascal Flatts is on tour. Enjoy a performance supporting their latest work, ‘Changed.’ It’s the band’s eighth studio album.
Cost: $20.50 to $69.50

Who: Deer Park Community Center 3rd Annual Comedy Cabaret
Info: Come out for a night of laughter with New York’s funniest stand-up comedians. The event supports the Deer Park Community Center. The show features talent including Rich Walker, Joe Ponitllo, Marc Herschmann and Scott Schendlinger.  Ticket includes soft drinks, snacks, coffee and dessert. Reservations required.

Who: Barn Stars And Blue Rose At Northport Village Park
Info: As part of Northport Arts Coalition’s “Happenings on Main Street,” Barn Stars and Blue Rose is scheduled to perform folk, Americana music.

SATURDAY – JUNE 1, 2013

Who: Lindenhurst Fire Department Parade & Motorized Drill Competition At Firemens Memorial Park
Info: Come out for a day of contests involving hoses, ladders, buckets and more. Volunteer fire departments compete against each other in skills contests. The event begins with a parade followed by competitions.
Cost: $6 For Adults, $3 For Children

Who: Les Miserables At Cultural Arts Playhouse
Info: Les Miserables is a musical based on Hugo’s famous novel of 19th century France. The musical is set to 1815 when Jean Valjean is condemned to 19 years of hard labor for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family.
Cost: $20 For Advance Ticket, $25 For Ticket Day of Show

Who: Pitbull At Nikon At Jones Beach Theater
Info: Miami rapper Pitbull has topped the charts with singles like ‘I Know You Want Me’ and ‘Give Me Everything.’ He’s also collaborated with other singers like Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias and others.
Cost: $18.75 to $125

Who: Annual Smithtown Festival Day
Info: Hosted by the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, the annual Smithtown Festival Day is complete with entertainment for the whole family including giant inflatable rides, food, face painting, pony rides, dance performances, karate demonstrations and more.

Who: Atlantic Wind Symphony International Variety At Patchogue Theatre For The Performing Arts
Info: Atlantic Wind Symphony is the oldest full professional concert band on Long Island.

Who: Sheep Shearing Festival At Sherwood Jayne Farm
Info: Enjoy a guided tour of the Sherwood Jayne house complete with country music, refreshments and other entertainment like spinning, quilting, and knitting demonstrations. A sheep shearing presentation is also presented by Tabbethia Haubbold of the Long Island Livestock Co.
