May is National Bike Month: Get Outside & Go for a Ride on One of Long Island's Many Bike Trails

With spring upon us, and the month of May being National Bike Month, now is the perfect time to dig out your bike helmet and get yourself outside to enjoy the beautiful weather while riding your bicycle! Biking is great exercise, gives you an excuse to spend quality time outdoors, and for those who aren’t so keen on biking on busy Long Island roads and streets, time to explore some of the many scenic bike trails located in the quieter areas of the Island. 
 
Here are some of the many bike trails on Long Island just waiting to be ridden by cyclists of all ages and experience levels!
 
Bethpage State Park Mountain Bike Trail
99 Quaker Meeting House Rd, Farmingdale, NY 11735
This moderate difficulty trail, with both easy trails and tougher, hilly sections, is a great outdoor escape for cyclists.
 
Cathedral Pines County Park
Yaphank-Middle Island Rd., (South of Rt. 25) Middle Island, NY 11953
With both a main loop trail (Blue Trail) and a more skilled, technical trail (Black Trail) Cathedral Pines provides the perfect mountain biking experience. Here is a map of the trails.
 
Eisenhower Park
1899 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554
Paved and mostly flat, this is the perfect bike trail for cycling novices and those just looking to take a leisurely ride.
 
Heckscher State Park
1 Heckscher State Pkwy, East Islip, NY 11730
If you’re looking for picturesque views, then this trail is for you! Circling through Heckscher State Park, you’ll get great glimpses of the Great South Bay.
 
Jones Beach State Park Bike Path
Wantagh, NY 11793
Beginning at Cedar Creek Park, this 8 mile trail runs along Wantagh State Park and concludes at Tobay Beach. 
 
Rocky Point Mountain Bike Trail

Snap on your helmet, hop on your bike and go get lost in the Rocky Point Pine Barrens! The 20 mile mountain bike trail is a popular spot for bikers.
