Hot Spots: Weekly Watch for May 13 through May 16

Don’t miss out on interesting art exhibits, workshops and nightlight entertainment happening this week on Long Island! On Monday, head over to Manor House at Planting Fields Arboretum for its All Abroad! A Railway Fortune exhibit and a ceramic gnome craft workshop at North Babylon Public Library. On Tuesday, check out an exhibit at Art League of Long Island that celebrates the automobile and its highways and byways. Head over to the Winner’s Circle for some dancing during the evening. On Wednesday, don’t miss out on a needle workshop and summer shape up program at public libraries. On Thursday, there’s an opportunity to meet Food Network star Guy Fieri at a book signing event at Book Revue. The Road Rage Comedy Tour also takes place at Napper Tandy’s in Smithtown. MONDAY – MAY 13, 2013

Who: All Abroad! A Railway Fortune At Planting Fields Arboretum
Info: This spring exhibit is available through Sept. 2. It takes a look at the history of America’s railroads for children and adults to enjoy. It covers everything from railroad advertisements, toys of the era, images, a working O-gauge model of the Virginian Railway by the Trainmasters of Babylon club and more.
Cost: Free Admission With $8 Parking

Who: Ceramic Gnome Craft At North Babylon Public Library
Info: Want to spruce up your garden? Head over to North Babylon Public Library to paint a ceramic gnome to add character and color to your garden. Registration is required.
Cost: $10 Includes Supplies Needed For The Class

TUESDAY – MAY 14, 2013

Who: Driven By Art At Art League of Long Island
Info: Stop by this exhibit presented by Acura of Huntington in partnership with the Art League of Long Island. The exhibit celebrates the automobile and its highways and byways through photography, mixed media, sculptures, paintings and jewelry created by 10 award winning Long Island artists.

Who: “Pick Me Up, I’ll Dance” At The Winner’s Circle
