Suffolk Theater

The Bronx Opera Company is coming to Main Street to celebrate the birthday of one of the world’s greatest conductors, Arturo Toscanini’s on Monday, March 25th from 2-7PM.

This unique performance at The Suffolk Theater will include stories, and anecdotes from Toscanini’s illustrious career including a story about how the young Arturo conducted the world premiere performance of La Bohème on February 1, 1896.

The Bronx Opera Company will perform selections from La Traviata, and La Bohème as well as works by Samuel Barber, Toscanini’s favorite American composer.

Tickets are $15 - this is one great show you don't want to miss!

Even though we've enjoyed the first day of Spring earlier this week, Long Island has been having a bit of a cold snap as we say goodbye to winter - with it looking very possible that this weekend will again bring a dusting of snow to much of the area. The Statue of Liberty to Reopen on Independence Day
NY's Iconic Beacon of Hope to Reopen for Public Visitation
Lady Liberty herself has weathered many a storm over the years, but the land on which she stands was absolutely devastated by Superstorm Sandy. A massive storm surged flooded Liberty Island as docks and pathways were torn asunder, and the island’s utilities and power systems were destroyed as three quarters of the land became submerged. Now the National Park Service plans to have Liberty Island up and running no later than the 4th of July.

During this public meeting, you will hear from a variety of officials concerning the Breach Contingency Plans at Old Inlet. Hosted by Bellport Middle School this Saturday, March 23rd, from 12:30-2:30PM, Shoreline residents and property owners are urged to attend and will have an opportunity to share their perspectives during the public comment period. Speakers include: Christopher Soller, Superintendent Fire Island National Seashore, Kevin McAllister, President, Peconic Baykeeper, Charlie Flagg, Ph.D, Research Professor, School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences(SoMAS) at Stony Brook SoMAS, and more. Hosted the West Babylon Fire Department this Sunday, March 24th, from 8AM-12PM, you can see Sparky the talking animated fire dog while taking pictures with the Easter bunny and enjoy a working train table top display presented by TMB Railroad Club!  Free finger painting and games available, clowns, and more! Admission is  $7 Adults, $4 children, and free ages 3 and under.

Auditions for NYCinLI's Musical Theater Summer Intensive - March 23rd Only!
Auditions for NYCinLI a 6 week musical theater summer intensive program, are coming to NY! The highly selective programs bring NYC casting directors, agents, producers, broadway actors, choreographers & other top NYC theater professionals to train the 22 participants of each program. Participants from last year's NYCinMA program booked professional film, tv and theater jobs, and signed with managers/agents in NYC. This incredible opportunity is available to those 12-adult, as this is NOT a summer camp. This program focuses on audition technique and training for auditioning in NYC and for top BFA programs. NYCinLI auditions (by appointment only) are being held in NYC on March 23rd and Framingham, MA on March 24th. NYCinLI will be held at The Dance Loft in Long Beach.
