Aytac Aydogan Edwards, who lives in Coram, Long Island with her husband, was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. The Turkish Republic is a secular parliamentary government established in 1923. They have three adult children and two grandchildren. Her parents were first generation secular Turks. Her religious grandmother embraced Sufism, a mystical interpretation of Islam, and gave her a religious education. Later the author became interested in Buddhism and learned from the Buddhist teachings. She graduated from Robert College in Istanbul and came to the United States on a scholarship. She obtained an M.S.W. at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Aytac Aydogan Edwards is now a clinical social worker in private practice. She paints and recently had a one woman show of her paintings in Istanbul. She is the author of a recently published book of poetry entitled "Between Two Worlds". She has also illustrated her book with delicate strokes of her brush, capturing her thoughts and moods with great simplicity. One not only enters the author's heart and mind through words but also with her beautiful pictures. In this book, she shares her reflections on aspects of her life and her thoughts on death.
