LI’s Adorable Adoptable Pets: Burt, the All-Around Family Dog

Written by Lyndsay McCabe  |  01. May 2014

For those who operate animal rescues and shelters, it is a surprise when certain cats and dogs are not adopted as soon as they are put up for adoption.  That is the case with Burt, a 1-2 year old hound/lab mix who has left the volunteers at Last Chance Animal Rescue scratching their heads as to why he has not yet found his forever home.

Burt is described as a full-package family dog that is only missing his family.  He is on the smaller side, and weighs about 34 pounds, with short white and black fur that is easy to care for. This handsome pooch gets along well with his foster parents other dog, and he also loves to play with his neighbor’s young daughter, making him a perfect fit for homes with dogs and children.  He would prefer to go to a home with a yard, as he enjoys getting time to run around outdoors, and he also enjoys going for walks.

This young pup as a sweet demeanor, and is gentle with everyone he meets. He is crate-trained, but his foster mother says that he does not even need the crate because he is so well behaved.  Consider opening up your heart and home and let Burt show you what a great family dog he can be!

Burt is house trained, altered, and up-to-date with all of his routine shots.

Last Chance Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization located out of Southampton which rescues animals from “kill” facilities – many of which are rural shelters in southern states – and underwrites the costs of relocating them to “no-kill” facilities and foster homes with the goal of adopting them into a forever family.  For information about adoption, fostering animals, or volunteering with LCAR, click here.
