This Week's News, Best Events & More for Long Island
April 27th, 2012
Dear Long Islander,

April is drawing to a close, and we're looking forward to lots of excitement as we enter the month of May. In upcoming weeks we'll be celebrating Mother's Day, the class of 2012 will be graduating college, and a multitude of holidays will be filling the upcoming month with all sorts of festivities and celebrations. The tail end of April has brought us some much needed rain, but the forecast into May looks to be more sunshine than showers as the weather continues to warm up. More locals head out to partake in outdoor events and warm weather fun, we can see the Main Streets of Long Island begin to "wake up" with Spring in full swing.

Discover Long Island's Walking & Hiking Trails
Without a doubt, Long Island is one of the most beautiful places in the nation to live. None of us is very far from a beach, park, pond, preserve, arboretum or sanctuary. Long Island is also filled with scores of scenic hiking and walking trails waiting to be explored. This guide will help you find some of the more popular ones, along with some that are lesser known. I’ve also added a few planned activities at some of our state parks that involve walking. So, in these economic times, if you like to walk and want to explore some of the scenic beauty of Long Island’s undeveloped preserves, parks and beaches, walking and hiking is a great way to spend a lot of free time without spending a lot of cash.
