Written by William Corbett  |  27. April 2011

The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County will host an evening of music, dancing and fun on Thursday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Savannah Lounge at 1900 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow. The event will feature live performances from well known musical performers including New Life Crisis, The Uptown Horns, Randi Fishenfeld and Nancy Atlas. In addition to the live entertainment, the event will feature an open top-shelf bar, hors d'oeuvres and dinner. The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center's mission is to connect the lessons of the Holocaust to the fight against the bullying, apathy and prejudice of today's world. Through its state-of-the-art interactive museum and unique educational programs, the Center relates the roles of Holocaust victims, perpetrators, bystanders and up-standers to the bullying and intolerance of today. The Center empowers participants with survivor testimony to actively repudiate instances of bullying and all forms of intolerance in their schools, workplaces and communities. "The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center has undergone a major transformation over the last eighteen months. We are utilizing the latest technology to better teach the lessons against intolerance and prejudice. Our new multi-media exhibit and learning center featuring artifacts, photos, archival footage and videos that leave a lasting impression on those who experience them," said Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County Chairman Howard S. Maier. "Our Center is supported almost entirely by private donations and relies on your support in order to achieve its mission to spread the message of tolerance and respect for all people. Through events like our Rock & Roll Night and with the support of the Long Island community, we can continue to offer enriching programs for students and adults to promote tolerance and begin to eliminate prejudice and hatred." Tickets to the event are $80 online and $100 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.memorialconcert.myevent.com.
