ADIDAS TO HELP "RE-KICK OFF" ROUGH RIDERS OPENER Team will give out FREE Adidas soccer balls to first 2,000 in attendance on April 29th The Long Island Rough Riders, members of professional soccer's USL 2nd Division, will be "re-opening" their 2006 season this coming Saturday - April 29 (7:30pm) when they take on the New Hampshire Phantoms at the Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. With the original start of their season washed out last week by stormy weather, the team will also be celebrating "Adidas Night", with the Rough Riders giving out a free, size-5 Adidas soccer ball to the first 2,000 paid attendees through the gate. "The team regretted that we had to postpone our first game" said team co-owner Peter Zaratin. "However, the safety of our fans and players was our number-one concern." By showing their opening game ticket, all "Game 1" ticket holders will be granted complementary access to the Rough Riders game this Saturday. Zaratin added that "all Game 1 tickets will still be honored at the rescheduled future date against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds as well." The Rough Riders, with a 20-game regular season, will host 9 games at their home field at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY. Their 10th home date will be played at Stony Brook University on Wednesday-June 7, 2006. After April 29th, the team will be on the road before returning to Long Island on May 27th to host the Richmond Kickers on "Modell's Back-Pak Night" when the team will be giving out string back-paks to the first 2,000 fans through the gates.
