With Spring Comes New Things

Written by yoga-meditation  |  21. April 2006

Spring is in the air...in fact it is everywhere. The trees are beginning to bud their leaves, and the early spring flowers are everywhere! Spring is about rebirth. Coming out from under that rock that you have been hinding under all winter and begining to bloom. What better time then spring to begin a yoga program? Yoga is about rebirth too. Each and every time you start a yoga class, you cultivate a seed of growth. Each time you do a sun salutation, you water that seed. Every time you do a Warrior Pose, you are letting the sun shine on your little seedling, stimulating a new you. And before you know it, you have a new outlook on life, and just like the spring, you feel fresh and hopeful. Yoga builds strength in your physical body of course, but did you know it also renews your body on the cellular level? As such, if you begin a yoga program, you will be stimulating parts of your body that are often neglected and filled with toxins. Muscles, internal organs, nerves and deep cells become refreshed. From your first class, you will enjoy that feeling of being reborn...refreshed... renewed...revived...released. You will wear your spring petals with strength inside and out for months and years to come. A perfect example of yoga's renewal qualities can be made if you were to take class with Master Yogi Swami Bua. Swamiji, as he is affectionately called, is 117 years young! He is like the spring all of the time. He teaches 2 yoga classes every day, doesn't need eyeglasses to read, and has a mind so sharp with a memory that is computer-like. Can any of us say the same? His amazing abilities come from years of yoga practice, living a stress free existence, eating a healthy vegetarian diet, and having faith in a higher power. Swami Bua was recently featured in the book by Larry Freidman, "Earth's Elders". The book highlights the lives of 50 supercentenarians...people who are over 110 years old. If you would like to know more about Swami, go to www.earthselders.org and you will read about 50 fascinating people who are always in a spring like state. Swami will be teaching at Inner Light Yoga Center on Saturday May 13th at 10:30 AM & 3 PM. If you would like to see how yoga can bring spring into your everyday life, come to take class with this true master, and your "new seedling" will receive the sun, rain, and nourishment needed to journey down the path of life with spring's enthusiasm for years to come. Call the studio for details. It all happens on the mat!
