Hot Spots: Weekly Watch for April 22 through April 25

Get ready for a week of music, cooking and performances on Long Island! Enjoy performances from LIU Post Orchestra, Three Days Grace, a rock relief performance at Revolution Bar and Music Hall and Hofstra University’s Spring Dance Concert. Several public libraries are also hosting cooking programs, including making focaccia bread and mozzarella. Other entertainment going on during the week includes a Business After Hour event at Dave & Buster with the Melville Chamber and a look into garden getaways in the immediate New York area at Northport-East Northport Public Library. MONDAY – APRIL 22, 2013

Who: Making Focaccia Bread At Freeport Memorial Library
Info: Learn how to bake your own focaccia bread and discover what foods make it even tastier. The program is presented by the Baking Coach, Inc. Pre-register at the reference desk.

TUESDAY – APRIL 23, 2013

Who: Business After Hours At Dave & Busters
Info: Come out for an evening of networking with the Melville Chamber. There’s complimentary food, games, billiards and a cash bar with happy hour prices.

Who: Three Days Grace At The Paramount

Who: Cooking Demo – Making Mozzarella At Oceanside Library
Info: Chef Rich Kanowsky will show you how easy it is to make mozzarella, taking you through the process of turning milk into curd, and finishing with a ball of fresh mozzarella. Registration is required and you are requested to bring a large mixing bowl.

Who: Garden Getaways At Northport-East Northport Public Library
Info: Explore the more than 35 public gardens in the immediate New York area with Pat Sommerstad. She’ll take you down a path to explore the rich color palettes, their prized collections and the beauty of the gardens throughout the season. Register in advance.

THURSDAY – APRIL 25, 2013

Who: Amityville Rock For Relief At Revolution Bar And Music Hall
Info: This Rock for Relief concert supports victims of Hurricane Sandy. The event features Peat Moss and the Fertilizers and much more.

Who: Hofstra University Spring Dance Concert At Hofstra University
Info: The dance concert continues to run through April 28. It’ll feature guest choreographer David Parker, artistic director of The Bang Group. Nancy Duncan, producing director of CoDanceCo, Inc. as well as Dancing Classrooms of Long Island will also restage Bebe Miller’s 1983 work Guardian Angels.
