Maid Brigade of Suffolk Donates Volumes of Volumes

Written by Megan Webb  |  11. April 2011

LONG ISLAND, NY- This March local Maid Brigade offices hosted a book drive to boost children's literacy and support charitable organizations in their communities. Maid Brigade of Suffolk got in on the action, collecting children's books throughout the month of March. Customers left books out on their day of service and members of the community also dropped by the local office to donate books. Thanks to the community's generosity Maid Brigade of Suffolk will be donating 160 books to Suffolk County Public Library this week. The books donated will reach area residents for generations to come through the library's children's collection. The library offers a wide variety of activities for children and teens including story times, arts and crafts, chess lessons and homework help. Across the country participating Maid Brigade offices collected a grand total of 5,702 books to encourage reading among America's youth. That's over 114,040 pages to share the joy of reading with children at 36 different local organizations across the country! For those who preferred to make a monetary donation, Maid Brigade directed contributions to Reading is Fundamental, the nation's largest children's literacy nonprofit. Maid Brigade of Suffolk is proud of the books we have provided area youth and is grateful for the generous support of this worthwhile cause.
