The Tread Mill

Written by weightloss  |  08. April 2001

Well I dragged myself back to the gym this week and it was no easy feat. The first order of business is cardio, now cardio can be any exercise that raises your heartbeat and metabolism. My personal favorite is the Tread Mill. I do not run or jog, I think it is basically bad for your body. I do, however, walk fast. I start off my workout with 30 minutes on the treadmill at a fast (3.8) pace. One thing I have noticed at the gym is that people do not get all they should from their work out because they are lazy. While on the tread mill, do not lean on the handles or stoop over and lean on the hand grips. You are defeating your purpose. Keep your arms perpendicular to your body and breast high, use gravity to get more from your time walking. Listen to good music with a beat and start to twist a bit. Make it a game, you will enjoy the time more and if you are enjoying your time you will stay on longer. After a 30 minute walk, I do 20 minutes of light weight training followed by another 20 minutes of cardio. My entire workout is 1 hour and 10 minutes, not too long. The extra 20 minutes of cardio at the end is very important for weight loss. This last 20 minutes will keep your body running at a higher level for a good two hours after your workout is over, and will keep the fat burning. Try some of the newer machines, there are some wild new toys out there. Never worry about looking dumb, the fact of the matter is - We all do!!!
