Written by Sharon Sultan  |  29. March 2011

With 10,000 American baby boomers turning 65 daily, joining a total 78 million boomers becoming "seniors" over the next 19 years, author Sharon Sultan Cutler is returning to her East Meadow and Long Island roots from March 31 to April 6 to reminisce with other people born between 1946 and 1964 about life and times 'in the good old days.' Sultan is co-authoring a combination nostalgia-history book with fellow classmate, Cookie Horowitz, called Once Upon Our Times (Because Life Isn't a Fairy Tale): 65 Years Growing Up Baby Boomer, scheduled to be published late summer, 2011. "We want input, insights and comments of students who graduated from East Meadow High School as well as other schools throughout Long Island and the entire country," Sultan says. Topics include how baby boomers grew up during meaningful moments in history, moving to suburbia, early family life, education, dating, relationships, values, aging, current family life, women's roles, civil rights, the sexual revolution, Viet Nam, retirement, financial and economic changes, etc. There will also be many nostalgic flashbacks from the 1940's forward, including fashions of the times, movies, radio, television, toys, books, fads, sports, and cars. Profiles of many baby boomers will also be featured. Sultan's schedule includes a free group networking and interviewing conversation on Saturday, April 2nd at the East Meadow Public Library from 10 AM until noon. The public is invited to participate. On Tuesday, April 5th, the author will be meeting with East Meadow High School Principal Richard Howard about how school days have changed since the early 1960's. Her schedule is open for other media and public interviews.
