Veterans Health Care: But For Most of Their Families... Nothing

Written by veterans  |  29. March 2010

In a conversation I had last week, the non-veteran was surprised to learn that the majority of Veteran families are not eligible to use VA provided health care. That is the case. Unless the veteran retired from the military or is considered 100% Permanent and Total Service Connected disabled, all VA health benefits that are provided are only provided to the veteran; for their family... nothing. What is available for the family... private insurance. So, with a 'tip-o-the-hat' to USA Today, here is what the non-retiree-veteran family has to look forward to.
