Jets Acquire Tebow From Broncos

On Wednesday, the New York Jets announced that they had agreed in principle to trade for Denver Broncos quarterterback, Tim Tebow.

Tebow became available after Denver acquired former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. According to Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, Tebow will serve as the primary backup to incumbent quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Tebow acquired some notoriety last season for leading the Broncos to seven come-from-behind wins, including one against the Jets in Week 11. He led the Broncos to victory over the Steelers in the AFC playoffs before losing to the eventual conference champion Patriots.

Knicks' Winning Streak Hits Five

With Tuesday's 106-87 victory against Toronto and Wednesday's 82-79 win in Philadelphia, the New York Knicks are still undefeated under interim head coach Mike Woodson.

Jeremy Lin and Amar'e Stoudemire led the Knicks to victory against the Raptors at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night. Lin notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists, while Stoudemire led all scorers with 22 points and collected 12 rebounds.

Three other Knicks scored in double figures, and the team held the Raptors to just 87 points. It was the third time in four games that the Knicks held their opposition to 88 points or fewer.

The Knicks continued their strong defensive play on the road the next night in Philadelphia. Again, it was Stoudemire and Lin who led the team with 21 and 18 points respectively.

New York (23-24) built a strong lead in the first quarter, but the Sixers kept it close and came roaring back in the second half. Some exceptional defense from the Knicks kept their lead alive in the game's final quarter, forcing Philadelphia to take several difficult shots.

Up next for the Knicks is a rematch Friday night in Toronto, followed by a three-game home stand.

Islanders Win 5-2 in Toronto, Re-Sign Nabokov

The New York Islanders continued their strong play on the road with a 5-2 victory Tuesday night over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The first two periods were a back-and-forth affair: Toronto scored early in each one, only to relinquish the lead each time thanks to goals from Josh Bailey and David Ullstrom.

New York (30-32-11) took control in the third period, as Matt Moulson's score broke the 2-2 tie. Moulson and PA Parenteau added two insurance goals later in the period to give the Isles the 5-2 win.

The next day, the Islanders announced that veteran goaltender Evgeni Nabokov would remain on the team through the 2012-13 season. Nabokov, who was claimed off waivers on January 22nd, 2011, has been the Isles' primary goaltender this season.

Nabokov's 310 career wins rank 22nd all-time and 4th among active players. He is a two-time NHL All-Star and represented Russia in the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics, along with the 2008 and 2011 World Championships.

Rangers Defeat Red Wings in Overtime

Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers defeated the Detroit Red Wings in overtime, 2-1.

Henrik Zetterberg opened the scoring for the Red Wings with a wrist shot early in the first period. That was the only puck that would get past goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who made 26 saves on the night.

Brad Richards scored later in the first to tie the game at 1, and captain Ryan Callahan came through with a goal two minutes into overtime to defeat the reeling Red Wings, losers of six straight. Coincidentally, Callahan's 27th goal of the season came on his 27th birthday.

The Rangers (46-20-7) will wrap up their home stand Friday night against the Sabres, then embark on a three-game road trip.
