Tax Forms and Information Available on SuffolkWeb

Some valuable websites for tax information. This time of year libraries are overrun with harried taxpayers, desperately looking for tax forms and publications. (On April 15th they're looking for the postal address needed to mail in the completed forms!) Both the Internal Revenue Service and the New York State Department of Taxation provide libraries with a wide range of forms and publications for taxpayers. Librarians will be happy to show you where the tax forms are, but we CANNOT give you tax advice. For that you need an accountant. But you needn't leave home to get the forms and publications. A great deal is available online. New York State Tax Forms--This is a comprehensive one-stop-shopping place for New York forms and publications. You must have Adobe Acrobat 4.0 installed on your pc in order to download the forms. In addition to forms, you'll find the tax rate schedules for income tax, withholding, and sales tax, and lots of other interesting links. IRS Forms and Publications--A clearly laid out site, with forms and publications. 1992-2001. The IRS requires Adobe 3.01 or higher for downloads. The IRS Digital Daily site alsoprovides information on where to file, how to e-file, frequently asked questions. Digital Daily Espaol--Tax information in Spanish from the IRS. This site offers basic information for Spanish-speaking taxpayers. There are not many forms or publications available in Spanish, at this point in time. N.Y.C. Department of Finance--N.Y.C. - current and older tax forms excluding personal income tax forms. Through this page, you will be able to download many different New York City Property, Business, and Excise Tax Forms for Tax Years 1996 to the present. Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher is required.See N.Y.S. forms below for personal income tax forms N.Y.S. Personal Income Tax Information--Forms, instructions & income tax information for N.Y.S. individuals, with forms back to 1985. A desktop tax resource for the individual tax payer. Adobe Acrobat 4.0 or higher is required to download forms. Exempt Organizations Search--Determine if your organization is exempt from federal taxes and what percentage of your contributions to them are tax deductible.
