Hot Spots: Weekend Watch for March 15 through March 17

St. Patrick’s Day is this Sunday and you can bet there will be Irish fun and celebrations happening on Long Island, along with other great entertainment! If you’re looking for St. Patrick’s Day related activities, there’s a special Irish comedy showcase at The Paramount, the Women of Ireland performing at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, the Celtic Tenors at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center and a special time at The Nutty Irishman, Bay Shore. Also happening this weekend is the annual Hofstra Shakespeare Festival on Antony and Cleopatra, Osyter Bay Comedy Night at Planting Fields Arboretum, Drew Carey at Governor’s Comedy Club, a performance of Three Little Pigs Out West at Studio Theatre and a free magic lesson at The Magic Shop. FRIDAY – MARCH 15, 2013

Who: 64th Annual Hofstra Shakespeare Festival of Antony And Cleopatra
Info: Enjoy this play of one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies of a romantic couple. It is about love versus civic responsibility and the dilemma the two faces. It also plays on March 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24.
Cost: $12 For Adults, $10 For Seniors Over 65 or Matriculated Non-Hofstra Students with ID

Who: Drew Carey At Governor’s Comedy Club
Info: The comedian Drew Carey will perform tonight. He’s not only a comedian, but also an actor and game show host. He’s had his own sitcom, The Drew Carey Show and currently hosts the game show The Price Is Right. There is a two beverage per person minimum at the tables. There is two other shows available on March 16.

Who: Oyster Bay Comedy Night At Planting Fields Arboretum
Info: The night features improv comedy by Eight Is Never Enough. There will be hilarious interactive comedy with original music and sketch based on audience suggestions and participation.

Who: St. Patty’s Weekend Irish Comedy Showcase At The Paramount
Info: In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, enjoy a showcase of Irish comedy! There’s a full line-up of top Irish comedians from around the country. Performers featured include Terry McNeely, Veronica Mosey, Tom Gilmore and Maureen Langan.
Cost: $20 to $35

Who: Three Little Pigs Out West At Studio Theatre
Info: Enjoy a performance of the story of the Three Little Pigs. They find themselves in a crisis as the Big Bad Wolf makes a visit to each of their homes. The eldest pig, Sooey decides it’s time for them to head out west to Baby Bear’s Dude Ranch where they learn to become true “Cow-pigs.”

Who: Free Magic Lesson At The Magic Shop
Info: If you’ve ever wondered about magic that’s been presented before your eyes, head over to the Magic Shop for a free lesson. The lesson is taught by magicians with over 20 years of experience. Each lesson includes materials and is available each Saturday, until July 27.

Who: Women of Ireland At Patchogue Theatre For The Performing Arts
Info: Enjoy a full stage concert production showing the next generation of Ireland’s leading female performers. There’s music, song and dance.

Who: The Celtic Tenors At Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center
Info: The Celtic Tenors come straight from Ireland. It offers tight three-part harmonies and quick witted banter for an eclectic mix of classical Irish, folk and pop music.

Who: St. Patrick’s Day At The Nutty Irishman, Bay Shore
Info: You can bet there will be an Irish celebration at the Nutty Irishman, Bay Shore! There will be Irish breakfast available at 11AM, DJ Sparky spinning tracks at noon, dueling pianos playing at 4PM and much more!
Cost: Free Event
