It’s about time you go green! And no, it’s not energy efficiency that we’re talking about.. It’s St. Patrick’s Day! Long Islanders will be turning out in hoards on Saturday to celebrate St. Patty’s day in style, wearing their finest green threads and accessories. T-shirts, pants, hats, oversized sunglasses, buttons, – you name it and someone will be wearing it. It doesn’t matter if you’re of Irish heritage or not. Everyone is welcome to join in the St. Patty’s Day festivities. Many Long Island towns hold their very own St. Patrick’s Day Parade and benefit runs or walks, some of which have already come to pass. Kings Park held theirs as early as March 3rd. But do not despair; there are still a number of parades to attend throughout Nassau and Suffolk County. Enjoy the show and be safe!

1. St. James St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The parade route begins at Woodlawn Avenue and Lake Avenue at 1pm. It continues on Lake Avenue and ends at the St. James Gazebo.

2. 24th Annual Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Parade begins at 1pm behind the Finley Middle School and follows Brewster Street to School Street on to Glen Street then travels through the downtown area and ends at St. Patrick’s Church. The parade includes six pipe bands, brass and percussion bands, over 30 antique cars, 10-12 military trucks, two Irish step groups and much more. A post-parade party will be held at St. Patrick’s parish hall. The $20 admission fee covers dinner and entertainment.

3. Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The parade begins at 12pm Noon on north Long Beach Road and Sunrise Highway at parking field 12. It Travels down Maple Avenue and ends at the parking lot on Washington Street. The parades nearly 120 entrants include 20 bagpipe bands, two school marching bands, five dance school performances, 11 fire departments, more than 20 antique cars and much more. This parade donates its profits to charity.
4. Brentwood St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Brentwood’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 1pm at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Clarke Street. It continues south and ends at Ross Park on Brentwood Road. The parade includes six pipe bands, five fire departments, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, school bands, floats, antique cars, and horses.
5. 8th Annual Hampton Bays St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The parades steps off at Hampton Bays Middle School at 11am. It follows Ponquogue Avenue north to Montauk Highway and then west on Montauk Avenue to the Hampton Atrium office complex parking lot. There will be at least 10 bagpipe bands, Irish step dancing groups, floats and marching bands participating in this year’s parade, which will last about two hours.

6. 50th Annual Montauk Friends of Erin St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The parade begins at 10am at Edgemere Road then heads west on Montauk Highway and ends at Kirk Park. This parade includes 12 to 15 marching and bagpipe bands, floats, Color Guard, Boy and Girl Scout troops, and a number of fire departments.
7. Patchogue St. Patrick’s Day / May The Road Rise to Meet Ye 4-Mile Run
The 4-mile run kicks off the parade at 2pm at East Main Street. The parade itself includes eight pipe bands, five floats, three fire departments and much more.
