Long Island and New York City remain under a Blizzard Watch due to a significant incoming storm that is expected to hit the area early on Tuesday morning.  The Blizzard Watch will be in effect from 12 AM on Tuesday, March 14th, through 12 AM on Wednesday, March 15th.

For Long Island and New York City, the storm is expected to bring 12-18 inches of snow throughout Tuesday. Winds of 20-30 MPH are expected, but gusts of 40-50 MPH have the potential to cause damage to power lines and outages across Long Island.  Along the coasts, residents should prepare for isolated gusts of up to 60 MPH.  Communities along the coast and in vulnerable geographic locations should also prepare for minor to moderate coastal flooding.

Strong winds and heavy snowfall may create whiteout conditions, making for dangerous travel throughout the day on Tuesday.  Visibility may drop to less than ¼ mile at times, making travel not advised unless absolutely necessary.
