Carle Place, NY - The season of Lent means for Christians the abstention of meat every Friday during those six weeks, but it should not mean eating pizza and tuna fish sandwiches. For those looking for an alternative, LL Dent Restaurant offers a wide variety of Southern-style meatless menu items for Lent, including:

— BBQ Salmon Salad - barbecued pan-seared salmon medallions over mixed field greens with tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers in a mustard honey vinaigrette

— Grilled Vegetable Salad - smoked tofu, grilled squash, eggplant, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and pepper jack cheese tossed over field greens and fried chick peas with balsamic vinaigrette

— Southern Fried Catfish - deep-fried cornmeal-crusted catfish served with hushpuppies, cole slaw and your choice of collard greens or green beans

— Stewed Tilapia - sauteed and stewed in a pepper, onion and tomato sauce, served over rice with your choice of collard greens or green beans

— BBQ Chicken-less Chicken - barbecue vegetarian drum served with a choice of two sides: macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, potato salad, collard greens or green beans

Since the restaurant's opening in 2006, LL Dent has offered various meatless dishes, making it ideal for those who observe Lent. "I grew up with the Christian tradition of abstaining from meat on Fridays," Leisa Dent, Chef/Co-Owner, LL Dent, said. "With the Lenten season upon us, our seafood, salad and vegetarian dishes give diners an opportunity to observe their religious traditions and still be able to enjoy a good meal."
