Hot Spots: Weekly Watch for March 4 through March 7

This week is Restaurant Week in Smithtown, so plan to head out for dinner each day of the week enjoying prix fixe dinner menus for $25 per person at participating restaurants. Other entertainment and activities going on during the week include a meditation session at Global Harmony House, Asian brush painting at Islip Arts Council, a game of hockey between the New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens, a healthy cooking workshop, country and line dancing and a showing of Argo and Ninotchka at public libraries. MONDAY – MARCH 4, 2013

Who: Smithtown Chamber Of Commerce Restaurant Week
Info: For this entire week, through March 10, the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce presents Restaurant Week. Enjoy a three-course price fixe dinner at $25 per person at participating restaurants. There are over 25 restaurants participating. A full list of the restaurants is available here.

Who: Meditation For All At Global Harmony House
Info: Learn to direct your thoughts through meditation. It’s your chance to de-stress in a calm and quiet meditation center.

TUESDAY – MARCH 5, 2013

Who: Asian Brush Painting Class At Islip Arts Council
Info: Here’s your chance to learn the basics of Sumi-e, the art of ink wash-painting. You’ll have the chance to work with watercolor and ink on rice paper. Beginners are welcome. Register in advance.

THURSDAY – MARCH 7, 2013

Who: Argo Playing At Connetquot Public Library
Info: Argo won best picture at the Oscars. It provides a dramatization of the 1980 joint CIA-Canadian secret operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran. It is an R rated movie running 120 minutes.

Who: Classic Comedies Series At Great Neck Library Station Branch
Info: As part of the classic comedies series, this week it is showing Ninotchka. It tells the story of a stern Russian official meeting a playboy count while investigating a jewelry sale. The classic comedy film series runs each Thursday through March 21.
