Hot Spots: Weekend Watch for March 1 through March 3

Get ready for a weekend full of great performances on stage and other events! On Friday, there’s A Chorus Line playing at LIU Tilles Center and Friday Night Face Off, an interactive improv comedy show at Theatre Three. The Long Island Pet Expo also begins on Friday at Suffolk County Community College Expo Center. On Saturday, enjoy a stage adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin at Patchogue Theater for Performing Arts. The Suffolk Theater also has its grand opening event taking place. St. Agnes Parish is also hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration benefit to help ACDS on Saturday. On Sunday, enjoy performances like Be My Baby at Studio Theatre, Guys and Dolls at Huntington Jewish Center and Alice in Wonderland at Ballet Long Island. Check out the details below!

FRIDAY – MARCH 1, 2013

Who: The Long Island Pet Expo At Suffolk County Community College Expo Center
Info: This is the first of the 3-day event where there will be vendors and attractions, including the Classic K9 Dog Show, Agility & Frisbee demonstrations, a parade of breeds, the Rainforest Reptile Show, a Birds of Prey Program and special presentations with rare and endangered reptiles, plus more!
Cost: $12 For Adults, $5 For Children Age 4 to 11, Free for Children 3 and Under

Who: A Chorus Line At Tilles Center For The Performing Arts
Info: A Chorus Line was one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history. It tells the story of 17 hopeful dancers auditioning for spots in the chorus line of a Broadway show.

Who: Friday Night Face Off At Theatre Three
Info: It’s an audience interactive improv comedy show. Join the outrageous troupe as they create uproarious scenes and hilarious characters based on suggestions from the cabaret audience. Beer, wine and other refreshments will also be served with no drink minimum.

SATURDAY – MARCH 2, 2013

Who: Disney’s Aladdin Jr. Presented By Ovation Dance Repertory Company
Info: Enjoy a stage adaptation of the Disney film Aladdin. The show is complete with magic, mayhem and flying carpet rides. It’ll also feature songs like “A Whold New World” and “Friend Like Me.”

Who: ACDS St. Patrick’s Day Celebration At St. Agnes Parish
Info: It’ll be an evening of celebration with Irish music by Martin Flynn, cocktails and food to benefit ACDS in Plainview. ACDS is a service provider for children with autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities.
Cost: $50

Who: Suffolk Theater Grand Opening Event
Info: Come down and be part of the gala to celebrate the newly renovated Suffolk Theater. The “Back to the Thirties” cocktail party features Grammy winning Vince Giordana and his Nighthawks Orchestra. There will be complimentary drinks, dancing, delectable food, signature cocktails, champion dancers, costumed characters, video entertainment and more. Everyone is encouraged to dress in the 1930s era.

Who: Be My Baby At Studio Theatre
Info: Enjoy a play about John, an irascible Scotsman and Maude, an uptight English woman. Both are in their late 50s and they are brought together when his ward marries her niece. They are brought even closer together when the young couple decides to adopt a newborn baby that the older couple has to pick up from California and bring to Scotland. Along the way, the older couple gets stranded in San Francisco for several weeks and need to jointly take care of the newborn. In the process they learn about life and love.

Who: Guys And Dolls At Huntington Jewish Center

Who: Alice In Wonderland At Ballet Long Island
