Late-Night Traffic Stop in Farmingdale Leads to Gun Arrest of Two Hempstead Residents

Two Hempstead residents were arrested in Farmingdale after police recovered a 9mm Ruger handgun during a late-night traffic stop.

The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead male and female for an incident that occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:56 PM in Farmingdale.
 
According to detectives, officers conducted a Vehicle Traffic Law stop on a 2017 Hyundai on Conklin Street in the vicinity of Waverly Place. During the course of the investigation, a 9mm Ruger handgun was located inside the vehicle. Both occupants, defendant Madison Nelson, 22, and defendant Jakhi Baggett, 19, were placed under arrest without incident.
 
Defendant Madison Nelson is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple VTL violations. Defendant Jakhi Baggett is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. They will both be arraigned on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at First District Court,  99 Main Street, Hempstead.
