Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes Into Woods in East Moriches, Woman Seriously Injured

Suffolk Police arrested a Manorville man for DWI after his SUV crashed into woods in East Moriches, seriously injuring his passenger.

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a woman in East Moriches last night.
 
Zachary Kollegger was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse westbound on East Moriches Boulevard at Locust Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area, at 8:30 p.m.
 
Kollegger, 37, of Manorville, and his passenger, Kristin Regina, 34, of Manorville, were both transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, then transferred to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where Regina is being treated for serious injuries and Kollegger is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Kollegger was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
 
The vehicle was impounded. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
